The Workers' Educational Association, in partnership with Focus on Family, Ballysally, has been working on a project called "Through the Lens: Neighbours". This short, digital photography project explored Good Relations themes as the inspiration for the images and took place over the last few weeks.

Participants included residents from the Ballysally Estate and the wider community from Coleraine, some of which had very little prior experience of photography. Once they were set the challenge of taking photographs to demonstrate their understanding of diversity, equality and respect in their neighbourhoods, they produced a set of very strong images, showing these themes from unusual perspectives. The students have also tapped into an interest to take more photographs and admit that as a result of the project, that they now see things from new perspectives.

The project is concluding with an exhibition in Focus on Family, where the photographs will be displayed until 1st November. This project was made possible from financial support from OFMDFM and Coleraine Borough Council Good Relations Department.

If you would like to visit the exhibition, please contact Brendan Patterson on 028 7032 9550.
