New Standards and QualificationsThere is now a Sector Skills Body covering adult education called Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK). It is responsible for developing a range of National Occupational Standards which will have related qualifications. The following powerpoint file is a presentation made at a recent WEA Tutor Day by Alan Clarke who is the LLUK National Manager Northern Ireland. It explains more about LLUK and about the introduction of new standards and qualifications in lifelong learning that are being introduced in England in autumn 2007. You can download the presentation by clicking here. At present it is not clear that these will be introduced in exactly the same way in Northern Ireland. A consultation is likely later in 2007 and the WEA will keep its tutors informed of all developments since this is something that will impact on us all.
